Sampdoria and Lazio ended the Serie A Week 4 game with a draw on Wednesday 31 August 2022 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genova, Italy.  The highlight of the match is that Lazio forward Ciro Immobile hooks Gabriel Batistuta to score 184 goals in Serie A.   Lazio reached 8 points while Sampdoria grabbed this golden point to reach 2 points this season and moving away from the relegation zone.

Lazio opened the score in the 21st minute. Forward Ciro Immobile defeated Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero with a right footed shot to the center. The assist is by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Sampdoria equalized for the 1-1 in the 92nd minute. It is Manolo Gabbiadini to defeat Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Tomás Rincón.

✅  Stats before the game: Sampdoria have won only two of their last 21 Serie A matches against Lazio (3D, 16L): in the same period, from 2010/11 onwards, only against Napoli have the Sampdoria achieved fewer successes against teams they have faced more than five times in the top flight.  After a 2-0 win in the second round last season, Lazio could keep a clean sheet in two consecutive Serie A games against Sampdoria for the first time since 2015 (three on that occasion, all with Sinisa Mihajlovic at the guide of the Sampdoria club).  Lazio have won five of their last six Serie A games at Sampdoria (1L), always scoring at least two goals. The exception dates back to 17 October 2020 when the Sampdoria led by Claudio Ranieri won 3-0 with goals from Quagliarella, Augello and Damsgaard.
Sampdoria have not found the goal in their last two home league games: the Sampdoria have not recorded three home games in a row without goals in the competition since September 2013. Also considering the end of last season, Lazio have drawn their last two Serie A away games and have not reached three in a row in the competition since March 2016 (six in that case, under the management of Stefano Pioli). Sampdoria are the only team that has not yet scored a goal in this championship: it is the first time in the history of the competition in which the Sampdoria have lost out in the first three Serie A matches of the season.
