Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Empoli, 20th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -5
AS Roma, 19th position with 1 point and a negative goal difference of -2

What way to climb the Serie A Standing!  AS Roma crushed Empoli by winning the Serie A Week 4 game with a 7-0 on Sunday 17 September 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  Surely, a great debut in Rome for the attacking duo formed by Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.  Double from Dybala, Renato Sanches, Cristante, Mancini and also the first joy from Lukaku, as well as an own goal from Grassi. Empoli not reaching the goal and is still without goals in the championship, only Baldanzi tries and hits a post in the second half.  First three points for the Giallorossi who move within 4 points in the next round away to Torino.

Empoli remained at 0 points, and next Sunday’s home match, not exactly simple, against Inter. Roma spreads against Empoli and finds their first victory in the championship.

In the middle of the pitch for Roma, here are the other new arrivals Renato Sanches and Paredes from the first minute. Space and Kristensen and Spinazzola on the flanks.

The party at the Olimpico started in the 2nd minute with Roma opening the score.  Yep, it is Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala to convert a penalty defeating Empoli goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the top left corner. The penalty is conceded by Sebastian Walukiewicz following a handball in the penalty area.

Problems for Empoli! The Roman gladiators scored again in the 8th minute. Renato Sanches scored with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Rasmus Kristensen.

Definitely, it is not a good day for Empoli. In the 35th minute, there is the own goal by Alberto Grassi with a deflection.

This is a match to forget for Empoli. Roma got a poker in the 55th minute. Paulo Dybala scored with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Bryan Cristante.

Roma with a half dozen goals! The awaited goal arrived! In the 82nd minute, the new “Giallorossi” Romelu Lukaku scoring with a right-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Andrea Belotti.

In the 86th minute, Gianluca Mancini sealed the victory from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Bryan Cristante following a corner conceded by Sebastiano Luperto.

✅    Stats before the game: Roma have not lost against Empoli in Serie A since 17 February 2007 (1-0 at Castellani with a goal by Pozzi): since then three draws and 11 victories for the Giallorossi, including all seven of the most recent ones, scoring at least two goals per match.  Roma is the team against which Empoli has played the most away games in Serie A without ever winning, 15 (2D, 13L), in which the Tuscans have always conceded goals and only once have they managed to score more than one (in the defeat by 4-3 on 1 February 1998). Roma lost their most recent Serie A match against the bottom team in the table at the start of the day (1-2 against Cremonese on 28 February), after having won 13 of the 16 previous matches of this type (3N). Empoli is the only team in this championship to have not yet obtained points and not yet found the net; in the entire history of Serie A, only two teams have played the first four matches of the season without winning points or scoring, Mantua in 1964/65 and Padova in 1994/95.

👉 Lineup AS ROMA (3-5-2): Rui Patricio – Mancini, Llorente, Ndicka – Kristensen, Cristante, Paredes, Renato Sanches, Spinazzola – Dybala, Lukaku.

👉 Lineup EMPOLI (4-3-3): Berisha – Bereszynski, Walukiewicz, Luperto, Pezzella – Fazzini, Grassi, Maleh – Cancellieri, Destro, Cambiaghi.
