Venezia was already relegated to the Serie B.  Cagliari failed to win the Serie A Week 38 and are also relegated after this goalless draw.  Salernitana despite losing to Udinese are remaining in Serie A based on points.   Cagliari ended with 30 points while Salernitana with 31 points. Just 1 point enough for Salernitana for salvation.  Cagliari players could not hold the tears at the end of the game.  Venezia saluted the fans playing their last game in Serie A at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium on Sunday 22 May 2022.

Coach Andrea Soncin: “Despite our relegation, what we have built this season is a fundamental learning experience for everyone. The kind of growth that we’ve had this year is something we can build on to achieve very important results.”
