Fiorentina won the Serie A Week 38 game on Friday 2 June 2023 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy. Sassuolo greets the championship with a defeat, instead Fiorentina wins and now heads straight for Prague where they are expected to play the Conference League final against West Ham on Wednesday. After a goalless first half, Fiorentina broke the deadlock a few seconds into the second half with Arthur Cabral taking advantage of a mistake by the neroverde goalkeeper Russo. Sassuolo returned to the match with a penalty kick converted by Domenico Berardi usually, but Riccardo Saponara, as soon as he entered, invents an amazing goal to bring his team forward. In the final, Saponara himself serves Nico Gonzalez the 3-1 ball with which the match ends. Sassuolo ended up with nine players due to the expulsions of Ruan (double yellow) and Rogerio.

Fiorentina opened the score in the 47th minute. Arthur Cabral defeated Sassuolo goalkeeper Alessandro Russo with a right footed shot to the center.

Sassuolo equalized in the 71st minute. Forward Domenico Berardi defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper converting a penalty with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Arthur Cabral following a handball.

Riccardo Saponara scored in the 81st minute with a right footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Aleksa Terzic.

The beautiful moment continued for Fiorentina sealing the victory in the 83rd minute. Nicolás González scored

✅    Stats before the game: Sassuolo have scored in all of their last 10 Serie A matches against Fiorentina; against no opponent, the Emilians have never found the net in more consecutive matches in the competition (10 also against Atalanta). Sassuolo have won their two most recent home games against Fiorentina in Serie A and notably have gone unbeaten in six of their last seven (W3, D3), having lost their first two ever home games against this opponent in the competition. Fiorentina have not won any of their last four away matches (D2, L2) in the league; only once, in a single Serie A season, have Viola played five away games without registering successes under the management of Vincenzo Italiano: between August and October 2022 (precisely the first five of this tournament). Fiorentina have conceded 42 goals so far in this tournament; in the event that the Tuscan team were to keep a clean sheet against Sassuolo they would equal their best defensive performance since the beginning of the last decade in a single Serie A season (42 goals conceded also in 2015/16).Sassuolo have lost more than 15 games of the season for the fourth time in 10 Serie A participations: 16 knockouts so far, not so many since 2017/18 (17).
