Hellas Verona, 9th position with 52 points and a positive goal difference of +6

Lazio are in the Europa League next season despite ending the Serie A Week 38 game with a draw against Hellas Verona on Saturday 21 May 2022 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  The end of the season was also sad because Thomas Strakosha, Lucas Leiva and Luiz Felipe walked an extra lap around the Olimpico waving goodbye to the fans. The Club awarded Thomas & Lucas with a special framed shirt. Lazio have only lost one of their last 13 home games against Verona in Serie A (W9 D3), although that defeat came in the most recent meeting at the Olimpico (1-2 in December 12, 2020).

Hellas Verona opened the score in the 6th minute. It is forward Giovanni Simeone to defeat Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha from very close range to the center with a headed shot. The assist is by Darko Lazovic.

Verona increased the score in the 14th minute. Kevin Lasagna with a left-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Marco Faraoni.

Lazio shortened the distance for the 1-2 in the 16th minute. It is Jovane Cabral to defeat Hellas Verona goalkeeper Alessandro Berardi with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Felipe Anderson.

Referee Andrea Colombo gave a yellow card to Hellas Verona Coach Igor Tudor in the 24th minute for protesting.

Lazio equalized for the 2-2 in the 29th minute. Felipe Anderson scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Lazio breaking the draw in the 62nd minute. Pedro scored from very close range with a right-footed shot to the center.

Hellas Verona equalized for the 3-3 in the 76th minute. Martin Hongla scored from very close range with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Darko Lazovic.

Stats before the game: After a 4-1 win in the reverse meeting, Hellas Verona could win both matches against Lazio in a Serie A season for the second time in their history, after 1984/85.  Verona have won two of their last three matches against Lazio in Serie A (L1), as many as they had in their previous 13 games against the Biancocelesti in the top-flight (D3 L8).  Thanks to Milinkovic-Savic’s goal against Juventus last time out, Lazio have secured a place in the Europa League next season. The Biancocelesti will play in European competition for the sixth season in a row (2017/18 onwards).  Verona have picked up 52 points in Serie A this season; only in 2013/14 (54 under Andrea Mandorlini) have they gained more points in a single Serie A campaign in the three points for a win era. Verona have also netted 62 league goals this season; they have never scored more in a single Serie A season in their history (also 62 in 2013/14).

👉 Lineup LAZIO (4-3-3) – Strakosha; Lazzari, Luiz Felipe, Acerbi, Marusic; Milinkovic, Cataldi, Basic; Felipe Anderson, Cabral, Zaccagni.
