Hellas Verona, 9th position with 52 points and a positive goal difference of +6

Lazio are in the Europa League next season despite ending the Serie A Week 38 game with a draw against Hellas Verona on Saturday 21 May 2022 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  The end of the season was also sad because Thomas Strakosha, Lucas Leiva and Luiz Felipe walked an extra lap around the Olimpico waving goodbye to the fans. The Club awarded Thomas & Lucas with a special framed shirt. Lazio have only lost one of their last 13 home games against Verona in Serie A (W9 D3), although that defeat came in the most recent meeting at the Olimpico (1-2 in December 12, 2020).

Stats before the game: After a 4-1 win in the reverse meeting, Hellas Verona could win both matches against Lazio in a Serie A season for the second time in their history, after 1984/85.  Verona have won two of their last three matches against Lazio in Serie A (L1), as many as they had in their previous 13 games against the Biancocelesti in the top-flight (D3 L8).  Thanks to Milinkovic-Savic’s goal against Juventus last time out, Lazio have secured a place in the Europa League next season. The Biancocelesti will play in European competition for the sixth season in a row (2017/18 onwards).  Verona have picked up 52 points in Serie A this season; only in 2013/14 (54 under Andrea Mandorlini) have they gained more points in a single Serie A campaign in the three points for a win era. Verona have also netted 62 league goals this season; they have never scored more in a single Serie A season in their history (also 62 in 2013/14).

👉 Lineup LAZIO (4-3-3) – Strakosha; Lazzari, Luiz Felipe, Acerbi, Marusic; Milinkovic, Cataldi, Basic; Felipe Anderson, Cabral, Zaccagni.

👉 Lineup HELLAS VERONA (3-4-2-1) – Berardi; Ceccherini, Coppola, Sutalo; Faraoni, Hongla, Veloso, Lazovic; Lasagna, Caprari;
