Lecce and Monza ended the Serie A Week 34 with a draw at the Via del Mare Stadium on Saturday 27 April 2024 in Lece, Italy. The goals arrived in the last minutes for both teams. Krstovic with a right foot in full recovery, Pessina equalizes from a penalty at the end. A point each which is good for both teams from a safety perspective.

Monza takes the field already safe. The first contract renewals have already arrived and we can start thinking about next season.

The next games will be Monza-Lazio and Cagliari-Lecce.

Lecce opened the score in the 92nd minute. Nikola Krstovic defeated Monza goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Santiago Pierotti.

✅ Stats before the game: Lecce is unbeaten in three matches against Monza in Serie A (W1, D2), among the opponents against whom they have never lost in the top division, only against Venezia (four) have they played more matches. After the 1-1 draw in the first leg last September 17, Lecce and Monza could draw both seasonal matches between Serie A and Serie B for the first time since 1992/93 (in the cadet championship in that case). Lecce remained unbeaten in 11 of the 13 home games against Monza between Serie A and Serie B (4W, 7N), the last success of the Brianza away against the Salento dates back to 6 December 1998 (1-0 in the cadet championship with goal by Massimo Oddo). Lecce have won their last two league matches without conceding a goal, the Salento team could achieve three successes in a row in Serie A for the first time since the period between November 2022 and January 2023; while the last time they achieved three consecutive clean sheets in the tournament dates back to the period between February and March 2004 – however, never in their history in Serie A have they recorded three victories in a row without conceding a goal. Since Luca Gotti’s arrival at Lecce (last March 13th) only Lazio (12), Inter and Bologna (11 each) have collected more points than Lecce in Serie A (10 in five matches). Luca Gotti could, in fact, become the first coach to win four of the first six matches in charge of Lecce in the history of Serie A.
