Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Fiorentina, 10th position with 44 points and a positive goal difference of +7
Salernitana, 20th position with 15 points and a negative goal difference of -42

Salernitana living a nightmare after losing the Serie A Week 33 game against Fiorentina on Sunday 21 April 2024 at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.  Salernitana are in the last position in the relegation zone.  Salernitana just need points or they will be relegated to Serie B next season. Fiorentina returns to win in the championship after just under two months and overtakes Torino in the standings, climbing to ninth place, four points from the seventh position occupied by Atalanta (on the pitch soon in Monza), currently the last useful to play the next European cups. Twelfth defeat in the fifteen matches played in 2024, however, for Salernitana, who remain 13 points from the safety zone and could mathematically say goodbye to Serie A at the end of the next matchda

Fiorentina took the lead in the 80th minute. Christian Kouamé defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a headed shot to the high center. The assist is by Luca Ranieri.

Fiorentina sealed the victory in the 95th minute. Jonathan Ikoné scored with a left footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Rolando Mandragora.

Stats before the game: After the 3-0 success in the first leg last December 3, Fiorentina could win both seasonal matches against Salernitana for the first time in Serie A. Among the teams against which Salernitana has never lost in home matches in Serie A, Fiorentina is the one they have faced the most times: four (2W, 2D). On the other hand, only against Varese (seven) have the Viola played more away matches without ever winning in Serie A than those against Salernitana (four).  With the defeat in the last match against Lazio, Salernitana established its longest streak of consecutive games without a win in Serie A: 14 matches (3N, 11P). Before Salernitana in 2023/24 (68 goals conceded), the last team that had conceded at least 68 goals after 32 seasonal Serie A matches was Salernitana itself in 2021/22 (69). In that case, despite having scored the same number of goals as in the current championship (26 in both 2023/24 and 2021/22), the Campania team had collected seven more points (15 vs 22). In the second round of this championship, Fiorentina gained only 11 points in 12 matches (2W, 5D, 5L), only Salernitana (three), Sassuolo (seven) and Frosinone (eight) obtained fewer points than the Viola.
