Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Napoli, 7th position with 45 points and a positive goal difference of +11
Atalanta, 6th position with 47 points and a positive goal difference of +19

Napoli  with a last call failed to earn points to be within the European zone.  Atalanta caused an upset by winning the Serie A Week 30 game on Saturday 30 March 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Napoli are seeing their hopes of grabbing a place in the next Champions League vanishing. The good news is for Atalanta because they remain within the European zone with this prestigious victory beating current Italy’s Champions in their own stadium. Surely, this is is a cold shower for Napoli. Atalanta won clearly with goals from Miranchuk, Scamacca and Koopmeiners.

Atalanta took the lead in the 26th minute. Aleksey Miranchuk defeated Napoli goalkeeper from very close range with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Mario Pasalic.

Problems for Napoli. Atalanta scored a second goal in the 45th minute. Gianluca Scamacca sealed the first half with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Aleksey Miranchuk.

Game over! It’s a total chaos for Napoli with Atalanta sealing the victory in the 88th minute. Teun Koopmeiners scored with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Matteo Ruggeri.

✅    Stats before the game: Napoli have won all the last four matches against Atalanta in the championship, already a record streak of consecutive victories for the Neapolitans against Dea in Serie A – among the teams currently in the top division only against Sassuolo and Frosinone do the Campania region boast an open streak longest winning streak (both five). Napoli and Atalanta have drawn only one of the last 17 matches in Serie A: 2-2 on 30 October 2019 at the home of the Neapolitans, 10 victories for the Campania team and six successes for the Lombardy team complete the run. Napoli have won 35 of 52 home games against Atalanta in Serie A (10N, 7L), only against Inter (38) have the Neapolitans achieved more successes in home matches in the top division. Napoli have remained undefeated in their last six league matches (W2, D4), the Neapolitans have no longer recorded consecutive matches without defeat in Serie A since the period between January and February 2023 (eight successes in a row in that case).  Napoli have drawn their last two league matches, the Campania team have not achieved three draws in a row in Serie A since the period between November and December 2014 with Rafael Benítez as coach.
