👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Sassuolo, 20th with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -4
Hellas Verona, 4th position with 6 points and a positive goal difference of +2

Sassuolo survived the pressure and won the Serie A Week 3 game on Friday 1 September at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy. Sassuolo have lost their first two games.  This is a great home victory claiming  3 points to climb the standing from the last position.  A disappointment for Verona coming from two successes in the first two days of the championship.

Verona remained with six points in the standings. Sassuolo rises to three and also cancels the zero from the points earned. With Domenico Berardi on the pitch it’s a whole different Sassuolo. The neroverdi, after zero in the box of goals scored in two days, make three at Verona and find the first victory of their season. The number 10, combined with various teams during the summer, is the absolute protagonist with a brace that tips the balance in favor of his own team. Verona, after the disadvantage in the first half, had managed to equalize through Ngonge but, almost ironically, that very goal seems to have given the jolt that revived Sassuolo. First defeat in the league for Baroni’s men.

After the break, Sassuolo will go to Frosinone while Hella Verona will host Bologna at the Bentegodi.

Sassuolo with a fast start. In the 11th minute, Andrea Pinamonti defeated Hellas Verona goalkeeper with a headed shot to the center. The asssist is by Jeremy Toljan.

Hellas Verona equalized for the 1-1 in the 56th minute. Cyril Ngonge defeated Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Marco Faraoni.

Sassuolo took the lead again in the 63rd minute. It is the usual Domenico Berardi to score with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Armand Laurienté.

Sassuolo slapped Verona with another goal. Berardi scored a brace in the 72nd minute converting a penalty with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Josh Doig after a foul in the penalty area on Berardi.

✅   Stats before the game: Sassuolo have won four of their last six games against Verona in Serie A; however, two of the most recent three have ended in yellow and blue success. An average of 4.4 goals have been scored in the five most recent meetings between these two sides in the league. Sassuolo have defeated Verona eight times in Serie A and have never achieved more victories against a single opponent in the competition – moreover, of the teams they have met more than six times in the top flight only against Empoli (58%, 7/12 ) the neroverdi boast a higher success rate than Verona (50%, 8/16). In the last four matches between Sassuolo and Verona at the MAPEI Stadium in Serie A, a total of 20 goals have been scored (average of five per game): in the same period (starting from 2019/20) only in Inter-Bologna at the Meazza (5.3) more goals were scored on average (minimum four matches). Sassuolo have not won any of their last eight Serie A matches, the longest open streak of winless matches among any sides currently in the competition: excluding the newly promoted and relegated sides, since the beginning of last May, the neroverdi are the team that in the top series has earned fewer points (two) and only Udinese (six) has scored fewer goals than the Emilians (seven, like Verona).

👉 Lineup HELLAS VERONA (3-4-2-1): Montipò – Magnani, Coppola, Dawidowicz – Faraoni, Hongla, Duda, Doig – Ngonge, Folorunsho – Mboula.

👉 Lineup SASSUOLO (4-3-3): Consigli – Toljan, Erlic, Ruan Tressoldi, Vina – Boloca, Thorstvedt, Matheus Henrique – Laurentié, Pinamonti, Berardi.
