Stats before the game.  The only precedent between Salernitana and Sassuolo in Serie A is the first leg of last September 26, won 1-0 by the neroverdi, with a goal by Domenico Berardi – the two teams have also met four times in Serie B, with one victory dei campani followed by three Emilian successes. Between Serie A and Serie B Salernitana and Sassuolo met twice at the home of the Campanians: 1-0 home victory on 30 August 2008 (Arturo Di Napoli), 4-1 external success on 15 May 2010 (Quadrini, hat-trick of Noselli, Siano).  Sassuolo have won in all their last six away games against newly promoted teams in Serie A and in three of these they have scored at least four goals (including their most recent league game, against Venezia).  Salernitana has conceded 61 goals so far: considering the first 26 league matches, only 10 teams in history had collected more than 60 goals at this point in the tournament, lastly Crotone in 2020/21 (64): eight of these 10 are then relegated (with the exception of Casale in 1932/33 and Livorno in 1929/30).  Three consecutive league victories for Sassuolo, who have not reached four in a row since April 2021: only four teams have collected more points than the neroverdi (15 in nine days) in 2022 in Serie A (Juventus, Milan, Naples and Verona).
