Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Fiorentina, 12th position with 34 points and a goal difference of “0”
Lecce, 15th position with 27 points and a negative goal difference of -7

Fiorentina conquered three valuable points by winning the Serie A Week 27 game on Sunday 19 March 2023 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy. The victory thanks to the own goal by Antonino Gallo. Viola started well and created two chances with Saponara and Barak. This is the fourth success in a row for Fiorentina in Serie A, which rises to ninth place in the standings with 37 points, one less than Juventus and Udinese, seventh and eighth respectively. Fourth consecutive knockout without scoring, however, for Lecce, which remains in fifteenth position with nine points ahead of the relegation zone.

In the 27th minute, Fiorentina finds the goal that decides the game with Saponara’s cross intercepted by the Giallorossi full-back who, in an attempt to anticipate Nico Gonzalez, puts it in his own net. In the second half, Baroni’s formation immediately creates the only real chance of his game with Di Francesco who turns and kicks on an assist from Strefezza, but finds Terracciano’s answer. The ten substitutions didn’t change the course of the match, with Fiorentina defending themselves without risking and in the final they even came close to doubling their lead, first with Bonaventura and then with Amrabat.

Stats before the game: In the last 10 Serie A matches between Fiorentina and Lecce, the same result has never been repeated twice in a row: in this partial, four victories from Puglia, three from Tuscany and three draws, including the one in the first leg. Lecce haven’t managed to score more than one goal in a Serie A match against Fiorentina since January 2009: a 1-2 draw at the Franchi with goals from Giacomazzi, Felipe Melo and “Nacho” Castillo. Lecce have won three of their last four Serie A away games at the Franchi against Fiorentina (D1); the last home win for the viola against the salentini dates back to a 1-0 draw on 5 February 2006 (goal by Luca Toni) – Fiorentina, by the way, are in general the formation against which Lecce boasts the most away wins in the maximum championship (four).  Fiorentina have won in their last three league games and have not achieved four consecutive wins in Serie A even since April 2018, when with Stefano Pioli on the bench, the Viola strung together six consecutive victories. Three defeats in a row without scoring for Baroni’s Lecce: Salento have not lost four games in a row in Serie A since a six-game run in July 2020 and have not had four games in a row without scoring in the same top flight since a five-game run in March 2009 (in which four defeats in a row also arrived).
