The “salvation dream game.”  Venezia and Genoa finished the Serie A Week 26 game with a draw on Sunday 20 February 2022 at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in Venice, Italy.  The result makes you smile, only in part sharing 1 point each. Venezia – best in the first fraction drop at a distance and suffer the return of the rossoblu in the second half. Svoboda saves a header from Yeboah on the line, Aramu grazes the post on the next overturn. Injury for Ebuehi. The battle to remain in Serie A next season continues.

Genoa have not won in 22 Serie A games (12D, 10L), already a negative streak in the club’s history in the tournament – the only non-promoted team to record a longer streak within a single season was Varese in the tournament. 1971/72 (28).

Venezia opened the score in the 13th minute. It is Thomas Henry to defeat Genoa goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu from very close range with a headed shot following a corner conceded by Nikola Maksimovic. The assist is by Pietro Ceccaroni.

Genoa equalized for the 1-1 in the 30th minute. Caleb Ekuban defeated Venezia goalkeeper Sergio Romero with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by forward Mattia Destro.

✅  Stats before the game. Genoa have achieved eight wins in 15 matches against Venezia in Serie A (4P), completing three draws. The two most recent matches in the tournament between the two teams both ended 0-0, the last goal in this match was scored by Giovanni Bolzoni with Grifone in September 1962 (in the Ligurian win 2-0).  After losing their first home match against Genoa in Serie A in 1939, Venezia remained undefeated in all subsequent six home games against Grifone in the top flight (4W, 2N) – the last match at home by the Venetians in the tournament. dates back to February 1963 (0-0).  After a streak of 10 matches without any success in the league (3D, 7L), Venezia won the most recent match against Turin, considering the last three seasons in Serie A (1999/2000, 2001/2002 and 2021/2022) only once the Venetians obtained two victories in a row in the tournament (last November).
