Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Sassuolo, 12th position with 30 points and a negative goal difference of -3
Inter, 2nd position with 54 points and a positive goal difference of +35

Inter wasted the chance to overtake the 1st position after losing the Serie A Week 26 game against Sassuolo on Sunday 20 February 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.   Inter remain in the 2nd position with 54 points and AC Milan with 56 points keep the first position after their draw against Salernitana.   After the defeat against Milan and the draw against Napoli, Inter got three consecutive matches without a win in the league for the first time since January 2020 (three draws in that case with Antonio Conte).

Sassuolo opened the score in the 8th minute. Giacomo Raspadori defeated Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by forward Domenico Berardi.

Surprise at the Meazza! Sassuolo increased the score for the 2-0 in the 26th minute. Gianluca Scamacca with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Hamed Traorè.

✅ Stats before the game. Sassuolo have won seven of the 17 matches against Inter in Serie A (2N, 8P), only against Genoa and Sampdoria (eight) have they achieved more victories in the top flight. Inter have remained unbeaten in their last six matches against Sassuolo in Serie A (4W, 2D), winning the most recent three – the Nerazzurri have never recorded four consecutive wins against the neroverdi in the tournament.  Sassuolo have only won one of their last eight league games and in the period have never recorded two identical results in a row (1W, 4D, 3L): a draw against Roma in the most recent match. Inter (17) is the team that has earned the most points from a disadvantage in this league, immediately behind we find Sassuolo (14) – but the neroverdi have also lost 17 points after going ahead in the scoring, only Verona ( 20) did worse.  Edin Dzeko (10 goals in Serie A 2021/22) is the oldest player in the double-digit number of goals this season in the top 5 European leagues
