Napoli wasted the chance to overtake the 1st position after ending the Serie A Week 26 game against Cagliari with a draw on Monday 21 February 2022 at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy.   Cagliari battled looking for points to dream with salvation and remain in Serie A next season.  The draw is more like a victory for Cagliari and a flop for Napoli.

Cagliari opened the score in the 58th minute. Gastón Pereiro defeated Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Alessandro Deiola.

Napoli equalized for the 1-1 in the 87th minute. Forward Victor Osimhen defeated Cagliari goalkeeper Cragno from very close range with a headed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Mário Rui.

✅  Stats before the game.  Napoli have remained unbeaten in 22 of the last 23 matches against Cagliari in Serie A (16W, 6D), keeping 12 clean sheets – the only Sardinian success came in September 2019 (1-0 at the home of the Neapolitans thanks to goal by Lucas Castro).  Napoli have won their last six away games against Cagliari in the league, the Neapolitans have never achieved seven away wins in a row against a single team in Serie A.
Cagliari lost only one match in 2022 in Serie A (3W, 2N), only Naples (4W, 2D) and Juventus (3W, 3D) are still unbeaten in the new calendar year in the league.  After the 2-0 away wins against both Bologna and Venice, Napoli could keep a clean sheet in three consecutive Serie A away games for the first time since February 2019.
