What a flop for AC Milan wasted the chance to take the 2nd position.  Monza with a prestigious victory won the Serie A Week 25 game freezing Milan on Sunday 18 February 2024 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy.

Everything worked in favor for Monza who took the lead at the end of the first half with the penalty converted by Matteo Pessina. Dany Mota’s curling shot which gave Monza a double lead at half-time. At the beginning of the second half, the Rossoneri remained with ten men due to the expulsion of Luka Jovic in the 52nd minute. A ray of hope appeared when Milan got back into the game with the new arrivals: first Olivier Giroud shortens in a split and then Christian Pulisic finds the equalizer. Monza, however, did not give up and took the lead again with Warren Bondo’s first goal in Serie A. In the final, Milan rushed forward but also conceded a fourth goal on the counterattack by Lorenzo Colombo. BAM! Way to go for Monza and a big flop for Milan.

Monza took the lead in the 45th minute. Matteo Pessina converted a penalty with a left-footed shot. The penalty was conceded by Malick Thiaw.

Wow, what a headache for the Rossoneri. Monza scored another goal before ending the first half. Dany Mota scored with a right-footed shot
to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Andrea Colpani.

Milan shortened the distance in the 64th minute. Forward Olivier Giroud defeated Monza goalkeeper Alessandro Sorrentino with a leftleft-footed footed shot to the bottom left corner. The headed assist is by Christian Pulisic.

Christian Pulisic equalized for the 2-2 in the 88th minute.

A cold shower for Milan and party for Monza. In the 89th minute, there it is a winning goal by Warren Bondo delighting the local fans.

Monza sealed the victory in the 95th minute. Lorenzo Colombo just put the words “the end” scoring with a right oted shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Matteo Pessina.


Stats before the game: Milan have won each of the first three matches against Monza in Serie A: in their history in the competition they have finished with success every time first four matches only against Ancona, Cremonese, Messina and Pro Vercelli. Milan is, together with Atalanta, one of the two teams against which Monza has not yet collected any points in Serie A (three defeats out of three against both). Monza is the only team that has not yet managed to find victory in this Serie A against opponents currently in the top half of the table: for the Brianza team four points in these matches, the result of four draws and seven defeats. Milan have scored exactly three goals in each of their last three league away games, against Empoli, Udinese and Frosinone: the Rossoneri have never scored more than two goals in four away games in a row during a Serie A season (in general , in their entire history they succeeded in 1964, but between two separate tournaments). Monza have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three league games (the last two of which were 0-0 draws against Udinese and Hellas Verona) and have never recorded a longer run of consecutive clean sheets in Serie A.
