The big day arrived!  The Milan Derby seeing a fierce battle.  AC Milan claiming the bragging rights to rule in Milan after winning the Serie A Week 24 game “Derby della Madonnina” on Saturday 5 February 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Inter took the lead, and then, AC Milan overturned the result under the leadership of Olivier Giroud scoring the 2 goals for the Rossoneri.  Inter’s last home defeat in Serie A dates back to October 2020 against AC Milan.  For the Rossoneri, it’s the first time to win a Milan Derby in Serie A coming from behind since February 2004.  Giroud becomes the first French player ever to have scored two or more goals in a Serie A match against Inter.

Since the start of the 2020/21 season, Inter have lost only four of the 60 games played in Serie A (44W, 12D), one of which against AC Milan in October 2020 – in the same period the Nerazzurri recorded less than half of the losses of any other formation (followed by Atalanta with nine).

Referee Marco Guida ruled out a goal for Inter in the 10th minute after consulting the VAR. Hakan Çalhanoğlu serves Ivan Perisic on the run. The Croatian crosses to the far post for Dumfries who takes the time from Theo Hernandez and beats goalkeeper Maignan with a header, but the goal is disallowed for offside by Perisic.
