Cagliari responded to the wake-up call and win the Serie A Week 24 game defeating Atalanta on Sunday 6 February 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. The defeat is a cold shower for Atalanta on their quest to be among the top 3 positions. Gastón Pereiro, however, signs the personal double and gives the three points to Mazzarri who comes out of the relegation zone and rises to seventeenth place with 20 points. Surely, a wasted opportunity instead for Atalanta who could now be overtaken by Juventus in the standings. A total blow for Atalanta defeated by a team from the relegation zone.

Cagliari opened the score in the 50th minute. It is Gastón Pereiro to defeat Atalanta goalkeeper Musso with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Dalbert.

Things getting bad for Atalanta with Referee giving a red card to goalkeeper Juan Musso in the 52nd minute.

Atalanta equalizing for the 1-1 in the 64th minute. José Luis Palomino defeating Cagliari goalkeeper Cragno from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom right corner following a corner.

Cagliari took back the leadership with Gastón Pereiro in the 68th minute.
