Fiorentina and Udinese ended the Serie A Week 20 game with a draw on Sunday 14 January 2024 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy. Fiorentina regained fourth place with 34 points but with just one point ahead of Lazio, now fifth. Udinese leads Cagliari at 18 points, +1 from the relegation zone.
An intense match full of reversals saw Udinese take the lead with Lovric, in the second half Beltran found the equalizer but the guests took the lead again with Thauvin. In the final,a penalty for the Tuscans converted by Nzola to equalize.

In the last two meetings between the teams, Fiorentina won against Udinese with a score of 2-0. Both have come back from a defeat and a victory in the championship. Fiorentina tries to regain fourth place alone, when Udinese visits them in search of safety points.

Udinese opened the score in the 10th minute. Sandi Lovric defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Lorenzo Lucca.

Fiorentina equalized in the 56th minute. Lucas Beltrán defeated Udinese goalkeeper with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Marco Faraoni.

Udinese took the lead again in the 73rd minute. Florian Thauvin scored with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Sandi Lovric.

Fiorentina reacted and got another draw in the 87th minute. M’Bala Nzola converted a penalty with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by João Ferreira with a handball.

✅ Stats before the game: Fiorentina won the last two championship matches against Udinese with a score of 2-0: since the two-year period 1952-1953, Viola have not beaten the Friulians three times in a row in Serie A without conceding a goal. In eight of the last nine Serie A matches between Fiorentina and Udinese, at least one of the two teams has not found a way to score; only the 3-2 against Viola on 25 October 2020 is an exception in this sense.
