Bologna win the Serie A Week 11 game against Lecce on Sunday 23 October 2022 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. It is a special home victory because Bologna claimed all 3 points. Previously, Thiago Motta had only scored one point in four games at the helm of Bologna in the league. It all happens in the first half where Bologna unlocks the match with the penalty scored by Marko Arnautović. The doubling comes at minute 34 where, on the development of a corner kick, Ferguson hits his head and slips on the near post. Bologna finds the victory again, the first for Thiago Motta in this championship, and climbs to 13th place in the standings with 10 points.
In the next round, Bologna will face the away game against Monza on Monday, while Lecce will host Juventus on Saturday.
Referee Simone Sozza gave a penalty to Bologna conceded by Valentin Gendrey after a foul on Michel Aebischer. In the 14th minute, Forward Marko Arnautović converted the penalty defeating Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

✅ Stats before the game. Among the formations faced at least 20 times in Serie A, Lecce is the one against which Bologna have lost the fewest games: only three defeats in 26 previous matches, they complete 12 rossoblù wins and 11 draws. Bologna have remained unbeaten in 12 of their last 13 Serie A matches against Lecce (7W, 5N), winning both of their last two comparisons 3-2 in the 2019/20 season. Lecce have won only one of their 13 away games against Bologna in Serie A (4D, 8L): 2-0 on 18 September 2011 thanks to goals from Guillermo Giacomazzi and Carlos Grossmüller.Bologna have only won one of the 10 matches of this championship: 2-1 v Fiorentina on 11 September (4D, 5L), the last time they had registered so few successes after as many Serie A seasonal matches was in 2003/04. No team has drawn more games than Lecce in this Serie A (five, like Empoli); only once previously did the Salento draw so many games after the first 10 Serie A matches of the season: in 2008/09 (in that case they also drew in the 11th match).
👉 Lineup Bologna: Skorupski, Posch, Dominguez, Arnautovic, Bonifazi, Medel, Ferguson, Aebischer, Lucumì, Cambiaso, Barrow.
👉 Lineup Lecce: Falcone, Pongracic, Baschirotto, Askildsen, Gonzalez, Gendrey, Banda, Strefezza, Hjulmand ©, Ceesay, Pezzella.
