Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Lecce, 10th position with 13 points and a negative goal difference of -1
Torino, 14th position with 9 points and a negative goal difference of -6

Mission accomplished, Torino won the Serie A Week 10 game on Saturday 28 October 2023 at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. Torino returned to victory and goals, moving to 12 points, just one behind the Salento team at 13. Alessandro Buongiorno’s goal at the end of the first half decided a match with few scoring opportunities and which saw Lecce try more insistently, without however managing to undermine the Granata rearguard.

In the second half, as the minutes passed, the pace dropped and the opportunities disappeared. Lecce has fallen and has not found the three points in five matches, 1-0 at home against Genoa.   The bad news is that Torino Coach Ivan Juric was sent off in the 95th minute. Yet, the party is on for Torino fans celebrating this awaited victory.

In the next round, Lecce will play at the Olimpico against Roma, while the Granata will play at home against Sassuolo.

Torino scored in the 41st minute. Alessandro Buongiorno defeated Lecce goalkeeper from very close range with a left-footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Samuele Ricci.

✅   Stats before the game: Lecce has lost the last two matches without scoring against Torino in the league – one defeat more than those suffered in the previous eight matches (4W, 3D) against the Granata in Serie A – and could suffer three consecutive defeats against Torino for the first time in the top tournament. Torino have won at Lecce only twice in the nine away games (4D, 3L) played in Serie A; however, one of these successes came in the most recent match against the Salento team at Via del Mare, last March 12: 0-2, thanks to goals from Singo and Sanabria. Lecce have only picked up one point in their last two home league matches, after having managed full points in the first three (nine points out of the nine available); the Giallorossi won 77% of the overall spoils at Via del Mare (10 points out of 13): only Frosinone boasts a higher percentage of points gained in home matches on the total table (83%, or 10/12) compared to the Salento in Serie A 2023/24. After remaining unbeaten in seven of their previous eight league away games (W6, D1, L1), Torino lost their last two Serie A away games against Lazio and Juventus without finding a goal (both 0-2); only once under the management of Ivan Juric, the Granata team suffered three consecutive defeats away from home, remaining without a goal in the top tournament: between October and November 2021 (four in that case).

👉 Lineup LECCE (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Pongracic, Gallo; Rafia, Ramadani, Gonzalez; Almqvist, Kristovic, Banda.

👉 Lineup TORINO (3-5-2): Milinkovic Savic; Vojvoda, Schuurs, Rodriguez; Bellanova, Linetty, Ricci, Gineitis, Lazaro; Sanabria, Pellegri.
