The two teams return to face each other in the top flight for the first time since February 1996, when Claudio Ranieri’s Viola was stopped at 0-0 by the Lombard leaders by Luigi Simoni. Fiorentina have never drawn in the last 11 Serie A debuts (6W, 5D), the last “X” sign of the Viola in the first league match of the season dates back to August 29, 2010 (1-1 v Napoli). All of Cremonese’s eight Serie A debuts have come away (including the next one in Florence): so far the Lombards have recorded seven defeats out of seven. Cremonese finds Serie A again 26 years after the last time: the last participation of the grigiorossi in the Italian top league was in the 1995/96 season, closed in penultimate place in the standings.
