👉   AS Roma and Salernitana failed to win the Serie A Week 1 game on Sunday 20 August 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome. The game ended with a 2-2 draw in their Serie A opener.  Two braces for each team, Salernitana player 36-year-old Antonio Candreva and Andrea Belotti brace.

In the last five occasions in which Roma have made their seasonal debut in Serie A at home they have never lost (W3, D2); the last home defeat on the debut of a top division for the Giallorossi dates back to 11 September 2011 against Cagliari (1-2).

Previously, Salernitana have never drawn in their season debut in Serie A: after the 1947 victory against Lazio, they suffered three defeats, two of which against Roma (1998 and 2022).

The redemption moment for Roma forward Andrea Belotti after having an early goal ruled out for offside. This time, no mistake, in the 17th minute, Belotti defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a left-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Diego Llorente.

Salernitana equalized for the 1-1 in the 36th minute. Antonio Candreva defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Federico Fazio.

In the 49th minute, Antonio Candreva scored his fourth brace in Serie A against Roma: the last one dates back to 24 January 2016, again at the Stadio Olimpico but with the Lazio shirt (vs Chievo Verona).  Candreva breaking the draw and giving the lead to Salernitana.

Roma equalized in the 82nd minute for the 2-2 with Andrea Belotti scoring a brace!!! Belotti equalized from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Leandro Paredes with a cross following a corner conceded by Junior Sambia.

✅  Stats before the game: Roma have recorded six wins, one draw and one defeat against Salernitana in Serie A; always considering the three points per win, the team from Campania is the one against which the Giallorossi have the best points average, among those faced at least eight times in the competition (2.4 as against Casale).  Roma are unbeaten at home against Salernitana in Serie A: after three Giallorossi victories between 1948 and 2022, last season’s draw came (2-2 with goals from El Shaarawy, Matic, Candreva and Dia). The one between Roma and Salernitana is the only match that is repeated on matchday one in both 2022/23 and 2023/24: last season it was played at the Arechi on 14 August and ended with a 1-0 victory for the Giallorossi Cristante network.

👉 Lineup ROMA (3-5-2): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Llorente; Kristensen, Aouar, Cristante, Bove, Spinazzola; Belotti, El Shaarawy.

👉 Lineup SALERNITANA (3-4-2-1): Ochoa; Lovato, Gyomber, Fazio; Mazzocchi, L. Coulibaly, Maggiore, Bradaric; Kastanos, Candreva; Botheim.
