AS Roma surviving the pressure and win this away game to catch up towards the top 3 positions.   Roma are -9 points below Napoli  holding the first position with 50 points.   Sasssuolo succumbing the pressure to win this home game for their quest to be in the European zone.   Sassuolo are now -8 points below Roma.   It seems the Mapei Stadium brings luck to Roma considering now 3 victories.

Roma opening the score in the 11th minute with forward Mohamed Salah defeating Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a  left footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Sassuolo had the chances to equalize the score in the  87th minute.   Referee Calvarese giving a penalty to Sassuolo conceded by Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan after a foul on Sassuolo midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.  Roma remaining with 10 players because Calvarese gave the second yellow card to Nainggolan making it an automatic red card.   Here is the unthinkable episode!  Forward Domenico Berardi having the chance of his life to equalize, sadly for Sassuolo fans, Berardi failing to convert the penalty because his  left footed shot hit the bar!!

Say no more.   Game over!   The Roman gladiators just sealing the match in extremis with the goal by forward Stephan El Shaarawy defeating goalkeeper Consigli with a right footed shot in the center.  The assist is by new Roma player Diego Perotti.
