Disciplinary Situation:  No suspended players for SASSUOLO

 

AS Roma reaching the objective winning the home game against Sassuolo securing the 2nd position because Napoli are following closely with 61 points.  For Sassuolo, it is a painful defeat because the salvation seems an impossible mission.  A historical victory for Roma because they reached 4,000 goals in Serie A thanks to Michel Bastos going straight to the record.  A good sign ahead of the unveiling of the new Stadium plans and the Hall of Fame Class of 2013.  

The Roman gladiators opening the score in the 16th minute.  The aassist by midfielder Radja Nainggolan with a through ball towards the center to find forward Mattia Destro for the final right footed shot defeating Sassuolo goalkeeper Pegolo in the center.  It’s the 10th goal this season for Destro.

First half ending with protests and disappointment from the fans.  In the 38th minute Referee Rizzoli not granting the penalty to Sassuolo.  The whole action originating by Roma defender Mehdi Benatia committing a foul on Sassuolo forward Nicola Sansone.  Rizzoli, at the end, after consulting with the linesman  decides not to concede the penalty despite the protests by the players asking vividly for the penalty.

A perfect ending for Roma scoring the second goal of the match in the 96th minute.  A magic assist by captain Francesco Totti with a through ball to midfielder Michel Bastos running fast enough to defeat goalkeeper Pegolo with a left footed shot in the bottom right corner.  It’s the first goal this season for Bastos as a Roma player.
