Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Bologna, 12th with 9 points and a negative goal difference of -2
Cagliari, 17th position with 8 points and a negative goal difference of -7
Bologna secured a victory in Serie A Week 10 by defeating Cagliari on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy. Bologna reached 12 points, placing them in 10th position. Cagliari faced their second consecutive loss and remain at 9 points. Bologna has one game to make up for since their match against AC Milan was delayed due to inclement weather.
A goal in each half is enough for Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna to prevail over a good Cagliari that did not take advantage of the opportunities created. In the first half, Orsolini unlocked the match in the 35th minute, while in the second half it was Odgaard’s turn to score the goal for the final 0-2 with a powerful shot from distance in the 51st minute. After the goal of the double advantage, Davide Nicola used all the weapons in his arsenal to try to break down the Bologna defense that absorbed (not without suffering) the opponents’ charge with order. Cagliari had a sensational double chance in the 58th minute with Gaetano and Marin who found an insurmountable obstacle in Skorupski.
In their next Serie A fixture, Nicola’s squad will travel to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to take on Lazio.

Bologna took the lead in the 35th minute when Riccardo Orsolini found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. The assist came from Dan Ndoye. Nikola Moro won a tackle in midfield and quickly sent the ball to Ndoye, who cleverly spotted Castro’s run and delivered a precise pass. With a smart play from the Argentine, the ball reached Orsolini, who opted for a powerful right-footed strike to the near post, leaving goalkeeper Simone Scuffet unable to react!

He sent a low ball back to the advancing Odgaard, who unleashed a strong first-time shot, scoring his second goal of the championship and beating Scuffet at his near post once more!

Stats before the game
The home side has been particularly strong, winning their last five home matches against Bologna in the league. In fact, Cagliari has only achieved more consecutive home wins against two teams in their Serie A history: Ascoli (six wins from 1980 to 2007) and Sampdoria (eight wins from 1970 to 1982).
After winning all of their first three Serie A matches played between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday against Cagliari, Bologna have failed to find any success in the following four (1D, 3L). After the 2-2 draw in the last round against Genoa, Bologna have drawn six of their first eight Serie A games of the season for only the second time in their history, after 1989/90. Considering the first nine games of the season, they have never recorded seven draws in the top flight.
Bologna have not won any of their last seven Serie A matches played on Tuesday (D3 L4), without finding the back of the net in four of them; the Emilians had found success in all of their previous five matches played on this day of the week in the tournament.
Cagliari won their last home match in Serie A (3-2 vs Torino), after remaining winless in their previous seven (D4 L3); the Sardinians have not obtained two consecutive home wins in the competition since the period between October and November 2023, against Frosinone and Genoa in that case.
Bologna have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three away games in Serie A (W1 D2) and have not reached at least four consecutive away games in the competition with at least two goals scored since February-April 2004 (six in that case).
