Great news for AS Roma!  Not only Roma defeated Genoa, but Roma also got back the 2nd position!   It’s an incredible turning point in the race towards the Champions League spot for next season.   Here is the situation.   Lazio were holding the second position, but they draw  against Atalanta and that allowed the Roman gladiators to overtake the 2nd place with 64 point keeping now a +1 point ahead of Lazio with 63 points.

Roma opening the score in the 35th minute with forward Seydou Doumbia defeating Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin with a right footed shot in the center.   Roma fans at the Olimpico going wild encouraging the team to move forward.

 

The party is complete in the 93rd minute following a fast break to secure the victory with defender Alessandro Florenzi smacking a right footed shot in the top right corner… that’s it, Roma back to the 2nd position!
