The coaches’ time in Italy also gave them the chance to learn about the organisational and operational side of things at a big European club like AC Milan. It wasn’t just time spent behind desks or outdoors and there were plenty of opportunities to relax. For instance, the American coaches visited the club’s HQ Casa Milan, the museum and were also at the San Siro for Milan’s home win over Cesena in Serie A.
The refresher course follows the integrated training method, as set out by the Milan Academy and followed by all of the coaches at the Milan Soccer School in Detroit. There is regular contact, visits and dialogue with coaches from the Milan Academy.
Finally, the Milan Soccer School in Detroit, the first in the United States, has been up and running for 2 years. There are 300 children enrolled with a high number of them made up of girls. The Milan Soccer School in Detroit has already achieved some important results and in its first season qualified for the Super Y North American Finals 2014.
