Fiorentina won the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Round of 16 on penalty shootouts on Wednesday 6 December 2023 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy.  Fiorentina qualified to the Coppa Italia Quarterfinal following a tense game coming back from 2-0 down to Serie B Parma to end 2-2. The final outcome was decided on a penalty shoot-out. Fiorentina will face Inter or Bologna in January.

Fiorentina is fresh from the home win against Salernitana 3-0 in Serie A, while Parma is fresh from the away win over Spezia 0-1 in Serie B.

Parma opened the score in the 21st minute. Adrián Bernabé defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terraciano with a left-footed shot to the top right corner. The second goal arrived two minutes after in the 23rd minute. Ange-Yoan Bonny with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Valentin Mihaila.

Fiorentina shortened the distance in the 83rd minute.  M’Bala Nzola defeated Parma goalkeeper with a left footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Riccardo Sottil with a cross.

Fiorentina equalized in the 89th minute forcing the extra time.  It is Riccardo Sottil to convert a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Yordan Osorio following a handball.

Fiorentina had to go to extra time and penalty shootouts to claim the victory booking their spot to the Quarterfinals.
