Inter Miami CF triumphed over FC Porto in a Group A match of the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This victory marked the first time a Concacaf team has won against European competition in a FIFA club tournament.

Porto took the lead early with Samu Aghehowa’s penalty kick in the eighth minute, but Marcelo Weigandt set up Telasco Segovia’s equalizer in the 47th minute.

Lionel Messi scored from a free kick in the 54th minute. Miami secured their second goal within the first 10 minutes of the second half against Porto’s goalkeeper Cláudio Ramos, with Messi netting the 68th free-kick goal of his remarkable career.

Both teams scored their first goals of the tournament after Miami’s previous match ended in a 0-0 draw against Al Ahly on Saturday, while Porto also drew 0-0 with Palmeiras on Sunday.

Result Palmeiras 2 – 0 Al Ahly Cairo, Thursday 19 June 2025, FIFA Club World Cup Group Stage

Palmeiras triumphed over Al Ahly from Egypt with a score of 2-0 in their Group A match of the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at MetLife Stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The match experienced a 50-minute delay due to concerns about thunderstorms. Brazil’s Palmeiras netted two goals within a quick span of 10 minutes during the second half.

Sadly, in the 49th minute, Wessam Abou Ali, the Palestine international striker for Ahly, inadvertently scored an own goal while attempting to defend a free kick delivered by Anibal Moreno, resulting in a mix-up with his teammates and giving Palmeiras the advantage.

The initial goal in the group was soon followed by another just 10 minutes later. In the 59th minute, a swift counter-attack from the Brazilian side was skillfully finished by Jose Manuel Lopez, who had been substituted in at halftime.
