🏆👉 Lazio won the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Stadion města Plzně in Plzen, Czech Republic. Lazio achieved a remarkable victory against Viktoria Plzen, scoring in the 98th minute even while down to just nine players. Gustav Isaksen’s crucial goal secured the win for the Biancocelesti, who triumphed in the first leg despite the red cards shown to Rovella and Gigot. Durosinmi’s equalizer didn’t change the outcome, as Baroni’s squad took the first match away with a score of 1-2.
This match marks Viktoria Plzen’s first encounter with Lazio in a significant European tournament. The Czech team has struggled against Italian clubs recently, managing only one victory in their last eight matches (D2 L5), with their sole win being a 2-1 triumph over Roma during the 2018-19 Champions League group stage. Lazio, on the other hand, is riding high after a fantastic away victory against Milan, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Zaccagni and Pedro.
Lazio opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Alessio Romagnoli found the net with a close-range header. The goal came from a well-placed assist by Tijjani Noslin, who delivered the ball after a corner kick awarded due to Václav Jemelka’s actions. Romagnoli expertly directed the header past goalkeeper Martin Jedlicka!
