Spain won the UEFA EURO 2024 Semifinal defeating France on Tuesday 9 July 2024 at the Allianz Stadium in Munich, Germany.  Spain continuing its great European Championship (six wins out of six) and earning a spot for the final for Sunday against the winner of the other semifinal between Holland and England.   France returns home, having arrived in the top four but never fully convincing in this European campaign.

Spain comes from behind to beat France and become the first finalists of EURO 2024. An intense and enjoyable match broken by Kolo Muani at the start and then decided midway through the first half by two Spanish goals scored by Lamine Yamal and Danni Olmo.

This is a match between a very dynamic Spain, the only team in this European Championship to have won all the matches played, and France, who arrived among the best four after a decidedly more complicated path (second place in the group, narrow success against Belgium in the round of 16 and passing through on penalties against Portugal in the quarterfinals).

Stats before the game: This is the sixth meeting between Spain and France in a major tournament (World Cup/EURO). France have won three matches (2-0 in the final of EURO 1984, 2-1 in the quarterfinals of EURO 2000, 3-1 in the round of 16 of the 2006 World Cup), while Spain won the most recent one, 2-0 in the quarterfinals of EURO 2012. The other match was a 1-1 draw during the group stage of EURO 1996. Facing each other in the semi-finals and having already met in the group stage (1996), round of 16 (2006), quarterfinals (2000 and 2012) and final (1984) of major tournaments (World Cup/EURO), Spain-France will be only the third challenge staged in each phase of the World Cup and European Championships, together with Italy-Spain and England-Germany. Spain is the only team to have won every match played at EURO 2024. No team in the history of the European Championships has ever won six matches in a single tournament and none has ever won six matches in a row in the European Championships. France could reach its fourth European Championship final (1984, 2000 and 2016), only the second of which would not be played in France (after EURO 2000 in the Netherlands). Spain, on the other hand, is aiming to reach its fifth final, with only Germany having played more (6). The Spaniards advanced to four out of five semi-finals, going out at EURO 2020 on penalties against eventual winners Italy. As of the start of 2023, Spain is the European team with the highest winning percentage, winning 15 of 19 matches under Luis de la Fuente (79%); the Spaniards have won their last seven games in a row and have not recorded a longer streak since June 2009-June 2010 (12 consecutive wins).
