Here is an interesting detail. If we were to look for promising Italian forwards for the National team, we are in deep trouble. Get this one, there is only 1 Italian player among the Serie A Top 6 scorers up to Round 13 and that is 37-years old Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale with 7 goals, we have 3 Argentinians: Tevez, Icardi, and Higuain. 1 from Spain: Jose Callejon, and 1 from France: Jeremy Menez
Is there a crisis among Italian forwards? Next higher Italian scorers in Serie A this season are Genoa forward Alessandro Matri with 6 goals, Parma forward Antonio Cassano with 5 goals. Juventus forward Pablo Osvaldo with 5 goals (born in Argentina, but getting his Italian citizenship through his great-grandfather).
Let’s see how the Italian forwards do in the next Serie A games and whether it is an alarm sign for Italy Head Coach Antonio Conte.
