Result AC Milan 0 - 2 Benfica, Wednesday, 16 September 2026, UEFA Europa League

What a rough start to the season and a real nightmare for Milan in the Europa League! Benfica dominated AC Milan at San Siro on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The Portuguese side claimed an impressive away victory at the Meazza, securing their first three points of the European campaign. The final score was 2-0 in favor of Marco Silva's squad, with goals coming from Dodi Lukébakio and Jakub Kaminski. This match was part of Matchday 1 of the Europa League's League Phase.

Amorim's team left the pitch to boos from the San Siro crowd, just as they had at the end of the first half. This marks a historic moment for Benfica—it's their first-ever victory against Milan. Before tonight, the Rossoneri had never suffered a loss to Benfica in European competitions, having won four of their six UEFA encounters and drawn the remaining two.

Benfica continues their impressive run in the Europa League. The Portuguese club remains undefeated across eleven matches in the group stage or League Phase of the tournament, with eight wins in their last eleven games at this stage.

For Matchday 2 of the league phase, AC Milan will travel to face FC Red Bull Salzburg, while Benfica will host Celtic FC at home. Both matches are scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026.
