Atalanta defeated Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League, League Phase, Matchday 2 on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo. This marks the second consecutive season that Atalanta and Club Brugge have clashed, with the Belgian team winning both encounters in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League play-offs (5-2 on aggregate).

Atalanta made a comeback to secure victory, initially facing challenges against Club Brugge in the first half but taking control in the second. Christos Tzolis's goal was quickly matched by Lazar Samardzic's penalty and then by Mario Pašalić's last-minute header, with Musah providing the assist.

With determination and key substitutions, Atalanta triumphed over Brugge, putting their past struggles behind them. Following a heavy loss to PSG in Paris two weeks prior, a response was essential, yet there were moments during the match when it seemed Atalanta might falter, reminiscent of their previous encounter with the Belgians in last season's tournament.

In the upcoming round, Atalanta is set to compete against Slavia Prague.

Atalanta leveled the score in the 73rd minute. Lazar Samardzic successfully converted a penalty with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, outsmarting Brugge's goalkeeper Nordin Jackers. The penalty was awarded after Jackers committed a foul in the penalty area on Mario Pašalić.

Fantastic! Atalanta turned the game around in the 87th minute. Mario Pašalić netted a header from just a few feet away, sending the ball to the top center of the goal. The assist came from Yunus Musah after a corner given away by Joaquin Seys. Musah, once more with his head, perfectly directed a cross from Samardzic!

👉   A big shoutout to Mario Pašalić for earning the MVP title in the Atalanta versus Club Brugge game!  . Pašalić was prepared once more. His goal in the 87th minute, bringing the score to 2-1, not only secured the comeback but also highlighted a talent he has possessed for years. Simply, he is crucial when it counts the most. This quality makes him essential, even when other players are stealing the limelight.
