AC Milan wins the derby at San Siro and closes the gap on the league leaders to seven points with ten games remaining in the league. This ends Inter's long positive streak, which falls after eight wins and fifteen consecutive unbeaten results in Serie A. Mission accomplished for Milan following a 1-0 victory in the first leg of the derby on November 23rd, AC Milan now win both of their Serie A matches against Inter this season for the first time since the 2010/11 season under Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri's team starts strong and immediately threatens through Modric, capitalizing on a mistake by Sommer. In the 34th minute, Inter has a great chance through Mkhitaryan to break the deadlock, but the Armenian fails to convert. Just a minute later, Milan strikes again through Estupinan, making it 1-0.

In the second half, the Rossoneri nearly double their lead with goals from Saelemaekers and Fofana, while Dimarco comes close to equalizing at the other end. Inter tries to make it 1-1 in the closing stages, but AC Milan holds firm and secures a crucial derby victory.

AC Milan netted the sole goal of the game in the 35th minute.  Pervis Estupiñán found the back of the net with a left-footed strike, beating Inter's goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the top left corner. The goal was set up by Youssouf Fofana with a perfectly timed through ball. This goal is particularly special as it marks Estupiñán's first goal for Milan! Milan is proudly claiming the bragging rights in the city.

Stats BEFORE AC Milan vs Inter

AC Milan remains unbeaten in their last six derbies against Inter across all competitions (W4 D2), having previously lost all six matches before this streak. Milan hasn't had a longer unbeaten run against the Nerazzurri in competitive play since November 2002 and April 2005, when they went 10 matches without a loss.

Inter has struggled to find the net in their last two derbies against Milan in all competitions, suffering a 0-3 defeat in the Coppa Italia and a 0-1 loss in Serie A. The last time the Nerazzurri went scoreless in consecutive matches against the Rossoneri was between October 2004 and April 2005, when they failed to score in four matches, including a 3-0 default loss in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Milan has managed to win just one of their last 11 home games against Inter in all competitions (D5 L5): a 3-2 win on September 3, 2022, but they have drawn both of the most recent encounters. The Derby della Madonnina has only seen the Rossoneri record three consecutive home draws in competitive matches twice: once between 1985 and 1986 and again between 1934 and 1936.
