Result Genoa 1 - 0 Südtirol, Tuesday, 15 September 2026, Coppa Italia Frecciarossa

Genoa defeated Südtirol in the Coppa Italia Round of 32 on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Luigi Marassi Stadium in Genoa. Vasquez's crucial late header proved decisive, allowing Genoa to avoid a penalty shootout and secure their place in the Coppa Italia last 16, where Inter will be waiting. Südtirol had very little to offer offensively, with only one notable attempt that sailed over the bar.

Vasquez's 150th appearance with the club will be remembered fondly for delivering the match-winning goal! Genoa has now extended their unbeaten home record in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa to 27 consecutive matches. This marks Südtirol's first defeat in official matches so far in the 2026/27 season.

Daniele De Rossi's team controlled the game and created numerous chances at Marassi, but goalkeeper Stefano Plizzari was outstanding in keeping them at bay for most of the evening. Tommaso Baldanzi had an opportunity within the first seven minutes and came close again around the 30-minute mark alongside Wiafe, while Vitinha's header from Puczka's cross went wide. Plizzari made his most impressive saves between the 34th and 41st minutes, first blocking Wiafe at close range and then denying a powerful Amorim effort from outside the penalty area.

Congratulations to Johan Vasquez on reaching his 150th appearance with Genoa! He celebrated this incredible milestone in the best way possible by scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory. Fantastic performance, Johan!
