Atalanta's journey in the Champions League has come to an end. They faced a tough loss in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Second Leg on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Bayern triumphed with a score of 4–1 in Munich, moving on to the quarter-finals. Hopes were already low after the 6–1 defeat in the first leg, yet the team fought valiantly until the final whistle.  Palladino’s squad exits at the Round of 16, while Bayern moves forward to face Real Madrid in the next round.

The first half was fairly even, with the deadlock only broken by a penalty scored by Harry Kane. A chance for Bayern emerged when Kane attempted a volley inside the box, but Scalvini handled the ball with his right arm. Initially, the referee dismissed the penalty claim but was later called to the monitor for a review. Harry Kane stepped up to take the penalty, but Sportiello made a fantastic save to block it. However, Sportiello had stepped off his line with both feet during the kick, necessitating a retake. Kane took the shot again, aiming for the same side, but this time Sportiello dove the opposite way, allowing a powerful, low shot to leave the goalkeeper completely off balance.

In the second half, Bayern Munich unleashed their full potential, scoring goals from Karl and Luis Diaz, while Harry Kane added to his tally with a stunning strike.

Lazar Samardžić scored  a consolation goal in the 85th minute.  Raspadori takes a corner kick for the Bergamaschi, sending it to the near post, where Pašalić redirects it towards the far post; there, an entirely unmarked Samardžić heads it into the net.

In the First Leg, the score was Atalanta 1 - 6 Bayern Munich.
