🏆👉  Italy lost to Germany on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Westfalenstadion/Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.  Germany moves on to the semi-finals of the Nations League, where they will compete against Portugal.

Unfortunately, Italy’s journey comes to an end here. Kimmich, Musiala, and Kleindienst scored for Germany, while Kean netted twice and Raspadori added another for Italy.

The match showcased two distinct halves, ending in a draw. The first half saw the home team dominate, taking the lead with a penalty from Kimmich in the 30th minute, followed by goals from Musiala—thanks to a lapse in the Azzurri defense during a corner—and Kleindienst.

The second half revealed a transformed Italy: Spalletti’s squad fought back, with Moise Kean scoring twice, first in the 49th minute and again in the 69th. With just 15 minutes remaining, the referee initially awarded a penalty to Italy but later overturned it after consulting VAR. However, in injury time, a penalty was granted to the Azzurri, and Giacomo Raspadori successfully converted it from the spot.

Italy team will find themselves in Group I for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, alongside Norway, Israel, Estonia, and Moldova. Moreover, Germany progresses not only secure a place in the Nations League semi-finals but will also be guaranteed a spot in Group A of the next World Cup qualifiers, where they will compete against Slovakia, Northern Ireland, and Luxembourg.

Germany took the initiative in the 30th minute when Joshua Kimmich scored with a right-footed shot directed at the bottom left corner. The penalty was given after Alessandro Buongiorno committed a foul on Tim Kleindienst within the penalty area. Kimmich’s low kick found its way into the bottom left corner, and while Donnarumma tried to predict the shot, he couldn’t prevent the goal.

Italy is struggling in the game. In the 36th minute, Jamal Musiala scored with a right-footed shot directed at the high center of the goal. Joshua Kimmich assisted him following a corner that Gianluigi Donnarumma gave away.

It’s complete chaos for Italy! Tim Kleindienst scored in the 45th minute with a close-range header that went into the top left corner, assisted by Joshua Kimmich. Goretzka passed to Kimmich on the right, who then sent a soft cross into the six-yard area. Kleindienst managed to head it, and although Donnarumma tried to stop it, the ball had already crossed the line. The referee signaled the goal for the home team by pointing to the clock.

Italy pulled one back in the 49th minute when Moise Kean scored with a right-footed strike into the bottom left corner. A misplayed pass from Sané to Kimmich went directly to Kean, who skillfully positioned the ball on his right foot and fired a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area. Baumann had no chance to stop it, and Italy closed the gap.

In the 69th minute, Italy increased their tally as Moise Kean netted a goal with a right-footed strike aimed at the top right corner. The assist came from Giacomo Raspadori, who was set up by Ricci near the three-quarter line. Raspadori then played the ball to Kean inside the box, allowing the Italian forward to shift it to his right and unleash a strong shot that scored at a mid-height level towards the right.
