After the home draw with FYR Macedonia and the win away at Albania in the final fixture in the qualifying group, Italy move up to 15th in the FIFA Ranking. Germany remain top ahead of Brazil and Portugal. Peru (tenth) are in the top ten for the first time where Spain have returned after climbing three places into eighth. Panama have also moved into the top 50 (49th) following their historic qualification for the World Cup.

According to the current Ranking, Italy will be one of the four top seeds tomorrow in the play-off draw at 14:00 CEST in Zurich for the European play-offs to determined who goes to Russia 2018. The Azzurri will therefore play one of Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland or Greece in the matches scheduled for 9th and 14th November.
