The “Mancini Era” starts! Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini directs his first training with the Italian national team on Thursday 24 May 2018 at the Technical Center of Coverciano. The mission is a real challenge for Mancini trying to rebuild the Italian team after failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Mancini is preparing the team for the three friendlies against Saudi Arabia (28th May, St Gallen), France (1st June, Nice) and the Netherlands (4th June, Turin).
Training started at 10:30 and the last 15 minutes were open to the press. Mancini followed with a press conference at 13:30 and the afternoon training at 17:00.
As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), from the original 30 called up players, there are three withdrawals due to injury: Emerson Palmieri, Claudio Marchisio and Federico Bernardeschi.
