Italy win the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match game 6 against Lithuania on Wednesday 8 September 2021 at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, Italy.   Italy returning to the winning  road after 2 consecutive draws against Bulgaria and Switzerland.  The victory sees Italy reaching 37 unbeaten games and keeping Group C first position with 14 points.  Moise Kean scoring 2 goals, Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Di Lorenzo scoring their first goals with the Italian team.  Great game!

Stats before the game:  Italy have won 5 of the 7 matches against Lithuania in all competitions (2 draws).  Italy hasn’t lost in 36 games in a row with 27 wins and 9 draws.  Never any major national team in the world has recorded a streak of 37 consecutive games without defeat. Italy have drawn their last four games, only once in their history have they collected five draws in a row: in 1997 with Cesare Maldini at the helm.  Italy have won all three games played in Reggio Emilia without conceding any goals: the first of these was against Lithuania, 4-0 in 1995 in a qualifying match at EURO1996, with a goal from Del Piero and a hat-trick of Zola.  Roberto Mancini (11 wins and 7 draws) is the Italy coach with the most home games without any defeat (18) in the history of the Azzurri.
Lithuania lost all eight games played in 2021, conceding 20 goals and scoring just two.
After a series of 17 games in a row with at least one goal to the credit, Italy was left dry in the most recent match against Switzerland; with Roberto Mancini at the helm, the Azzurri have never registered two consecutive games without scoring.  No team has scored fewer goals than Lithuania (only one) in qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup.
Italy’s last three goals have all been scored by Juventus players (Chiesa v Spain, Bonucci v England and Chiesa v Bulgaria); the last time that four Italian goals in a row were scored by players from the same club was in September 2012 (Rome in that case).
Leonardo Bonucci (111) is one time away from reaching Dino Zoff (112) in 7th place in the ranking of players with the most games played in the history of Italy.

Italy opening the score in the 11th minute. It is Moise Kean to defeat Lithuania goalkeeper Setkus with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Italy with a sprint race and three minutes after the first goal, there it is in the 14th minute. Giacomo Raspadori scoring the goal, though, Referee reviewing and the decision is an own goal by Edgaras Utkus.

Party time. In the 24th minute, finally, Giacomo Raspadori scoring his first goal with the Italian team and this time is TRUE. Raspadori giving a joy to the fans after his goal from very close range with a right footed shot.

Raining goals at the Mapei! In the 29th minute, Moise Kean with a left footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Federico Bernardeschi.

Una manina… Italy scoring for the 5-0 in the 54th minute. A special goal because Giovanni Di Lorenzo scoring his first goal with the Italian team!
