Italy qualifying to the Round of 16 as leader of the FIFA Women’s Wold Cup Group C. Brazil defeated Italy on Tuesday 18 June 2019 at the Stade du Hainaut, Valenciennes in France. The good news is that Italy, despite the defeat, ended in the first position with 6 points and a positive goal difference of +3, Australia in the second position with 6 points and a positive goal difference of +3, Brazil in the third position with 6 points and a positive goal difference of +3, and Jamaica with 0 points in the 4th position with a negative goal difference of -11.
Brazil opened the score with the only goal of the match in the 71st minute after a penalty conceded by Elena Linari. It is Marta to convert the penalty defeating Italy goalkeeper with a left footed shot in the bottom right corner.
