Daniele De Rossi leaves the squad with injury. Squad in training at the San Nicola

Daniele De Rossi has left the Italy squad and will not be available for the first World Cup 2018 qualifier against Israel in Haifa at 20:45 CEST on Monday.

The Roma midfielder came off during the friendly with France because of a strong knock to his right calf. He underwent tests in the late morning the following day at the regional hospital in Miulli with Italy doctor Enrico Castellacci accompanying the player.

The findings showed that it will be impossible for him to recover in time for the match with Israel and in the coming hours the player will return to his club in order to undergo treatment there. Leonardo Bonucci will also not be there in Haifa because of personal issues that prevented him from being able to respond to the call-up. The side will return to training at the San Nicola stadium in the afternoon
