Azzurri youth prospects reveal delight following Coverciano training camp

Roberto Gagliardini made his return to Coverciano just days after his recent call-up for the games against Liechtenstein and Germany, although this time he was accompanied by six of his Atalanta teammates: “It is always a great feeling to be with the national team,” he said. “It has been my dream since I was a child and now it’s coming true. We have put in a lot of hard work and I think that it’s a step forwards in all of our careers.”

Alessio Cragno is just another player who enjoyed this new stage of his fledgling career: “To take part in this training camp was a dream come true for me and an emotional experience. We did not have much time together so we trained hard over the past few days. We tried to instantly put ourselves at the disposal of the coach and do whatever he asked. Ventura put us at ease and told us to relax.” Having been one of the main protagonists during the Under-21s recent qualification, Cragno is now hoping to play in the final phase of the European Championship in Poland this June: “It is one of my objectives,” he admitted. “But for this to happen I must give the maximum for my club and I must earn a call-up from coach Luigi Di Biagio.”

“They were amazing days here at Coverciano,” said the Pescara striker Gianluca Caprari. “It is a starting point for me because I want to reach the very top. The 4-2-4 is a formation that gets the best out of me as a striker. Ventura’s teams also play a lot with the ball and I like that a lot.” ]]>
