Inter with a great away victory winning the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals, First Leg game, on Tuesday 11 April 2023 at the Estádio do SL Benfica in Lisbon, Portugal. A match masterfully played by Inter who won the first leg of the quarter-finals thanks to goals from Nicolò Barella and Romelu Lukaku. Surely, Coach Simone Inzaghi and Inter fans can celebrate. The Second Lege will be played at San Siro on Wednesday 19 April at 21:00.

Inter unlocked the score in the 51st minute with Bastoni’s cross from the trocar towards the far post where Nicolò Barella arrives, who heads crosses towards the far post and leaves no way out for goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos.

In the 82nd minute the episode that could be decisive for the next round: a cross from the right by Dumfries and a hand by Joao Mario. Romelu Lukaku shows up on the spot and makes no mistake and doubles up.

   Stats before the game:    This will be the fourth meeting between Benfica and Inter Milan in European competition and the first since the round of 16 of the 2003-04 UEFA Cup. Benfica have not won any of their previous three, recording a draw and two defeats. The only precedent between Benfica and Inter between the European Cup and the Champions League dates back to 1965, when the Italian team won 1-0 in the Final played at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. Benfica have already won twice against Italian sides in this Champions League, beating Juventus home and away in the group stage. Before the 2022/23 season, they had won just two of their 11 ties against Italian opponents in the European Cup/Champions League (D2 L7).
