🏆👉  Inter lost to Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The match will be held at the Munich Football Arena in Munich, Germany. Certainly, it’s a disappointing day for Italian football. Inter faced a heavy loss in the Champions League Final, going down 5-0.

Luis Enrique’s team secured a well-earned victory in Monaco, dominating the match and defeating Inter 5-0. This marks the first Champions League title for the Parisian club, which has also achieved its first treble (Coupe de France, Ligue 1, and the Champions League). No team has ever won a final in this competition by a margin greater than four goals. Even with the loss, we share in the sorrow felt by every Inter player and their supporters.

This marks the very first official encounter between Inter and PSG, and it’s the second time an Italian team has faced a French team in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League final, following Marseille’s 1-0 victory over Milan in 1993, which remains the only time a French team has claimed the trophy. That final also took place in Monaco.

Coach Stats: Inter’s coach, Simone Inzaghi, faced defeat in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final and is determined to steer clear of being the ninth coach to lose two or more finals. The only coaches who have lost their first final and then triumphed in their second are Fabio Capello (who lost in 1993 and won in 1994) and Thomas Tuchel (who lost in 2020 and won in 2021).

The game …

Inter ticketsNot the best beginning for Inter. In the 12th minute, Paris Saint Germain gained the advantage. Achraf Hakimi netted a goal with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. The assist came from Désiré Doué. What a sensational goal from the former player: the Moroccan striker was expertly set up centrally by Doué.

It was impossible to miss as Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer was caught off guard during the counterattack: the ball hits the back of the net, and PSG leads 1-0. However, Hakimi refrains from celebrating and instead offers an apology to his former fans.

Paris Saint Germain …. another goal

It’s a whirlwind for Inter. In the 20th minute, PSG extended their lead to 2-0. Désiré Doué for @PSG_English struck with a right-footed shot into the top right corner. The assist came from Ousmane Dembélé after a quick break. Barella shields the ball and wins a corner, but the ball remains in play with Nuno Mendes. The Portuguese player initiates a flawless counterattack and sets up Doué, who powers a left-footed shot into the net. OUCH!

What a disaster! PSG scores again in the 64th minute, making it 3-0. Désiré Doué nets a brace with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The assist comes from Vitinha. He becomes the youngest player to both score and provide an assist in a Champions League final: the Frenchman receives a yellow card for removing his shirt in celebration.

I can hardly believe what I’m seeing! In the 73rd minute, PSG is ahead with a score of 4-0! Khvicha Kvaratskhelia found the net with a left-footed strike into the bottom left corner. Ousmane Dembélé provided the assist. The Georgian, with Dembélé’s help, fires a right-footed shot from the left side of the box, easily getting past Sommer.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE! In the 86th minute, Paris Saint Germain clinched the 5-0 victory! Senny Mayulu found the net with a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The assist came from Bradley Barcola. A goal by the young Mayulu, who netted the fifth goal: he scored at the near post with his left foot.

Stats before the game

This marks Inter’s seventh time competing in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League final, where they have claimed the trophy three times (1964, 1965, and 2010). The Nerazzurri faced a defeat in their most recent final, losing 1-0 to Manchester City in 2023.

On the other hand, this is PSG’s second time in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League final, having previously lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich during the 2019-20 season. Nevertheless, PSG remains the last French club to secure a significant European trophy: the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1995-96.

French teams have only triumphed in two out of their 15 major European club competition finals: one victory in seven attempts in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, one in three in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and none in five in the UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League.

This will mark the fifth European Cup/UEFA Champions League final held in Munich. The champions of the previous four tournaments were all first-time winners of the trophy.  A trend that Paris Saint-Germain aims to uphold (Nottingham Forest in 1979, Marseille in 1993, Borussia Dortmund in 1997, Chelsea in 2012). Inter has netted 26 goals in this season’s UEFA Champions League, matching their record for a major European club competition season (also 26 in 2002-03).

The Milan club has scored at least two goals in each of their six knockout matches and could become the third team to achieve this in every game of a season, including the final, following Real Madrid in 1959-60 (seven games) and Milan in 1993-94 (two games).
