The battle for the Scudetto was packed with excitement. Napoli and Inter clashed in Serie A Week 27, ending in a 1-1 draw on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Following Atalanta’s draw with Venezia, the standings at the top remain unchanged. Inter stays in first place with 58 points, just one ahead of Napoli at 57 points, and three ahead of Atalanta, who has 55 points. For Inzaghi’s squad, this marks their third consecutive positive result, following wins against Genoa in the league and Lazio in the Italian Cup. On the other hand, Napoli is now on a fifth straight game without a victory, unable to surpass the Nerazzurri and still searching for a win that has eluded them for over a month.
Inter gained the upper hand in the 22nd minute thanks to Federico Dimarco, who executed a brilliant left-footed free kick. From 20 meters out, he curled the ball into the top left corner, outsmarting goalkeeper Alex Meret with his exceptional shot.

Napoli managed to level the score at 1-1 in the 87th minute. Philip Billing found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. Lobotka connected with McTominay, made his way into the box, and set up Billing. Although Billing’s initial left-footed attempt was saved by Josep Martinez, he quickly followed up to score the equalizer.

✅ Stats before the game:
Napoli has managed to secure just one victory in their last 11 encounters with Inter in Serie A, recording 4 draws and 6 losses. Since the start of 2020, they have struggled against no other team as much as they have against Inter, with only one win and six defeats. This matchup marks the fifth time in the last decade (since the 2015/16 season) that Napoli and Inter will meet while both are in the top two spots of the league. In their previous four meetings under these circumstances, Napoli initially triumphed with a 2-1 win thanks to two goals from Gonzalo Higuaín on November 30, 2015, followed by three draws, including their first leg this season, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

Inter has managed to stay unbeaten in four of their last five away games against Napoli in Serie A, with two wins and two draws. Notably, after their recent victory at the Maradona (3-0 on December 3, 2023), the Nerazzurri have a chance to defeat the Partenopei at home in consecutive matches for the first time since 1997 in the top division.
On the other hand, Napoli has struggled to find a win in their last four league matches, recording three draws followed by a loss. Under Antonio Conte, the team has never experienced five straight games without a victory in Serie A. Following their defeat to Como, the Partenopei could face back-to-back losses for the first time since December 2023, when one of those defeats was against Inter at home (0-3).
