Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 1st position with 7 points and a positive goal difference of +6
Monza, 15th position with 2 points and a negative goal difference of -1

The Serie A Week 4 clash between Monza and Inter on Sunday, September 15, 2024, concluded in a 1-1 stalemate at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. This result is disappointing for Inter as they relinquish their top spot. Conversely, Monza sees this draw as a small triumph, earning a crucial point against the reigning champions. Inter now sits in second place with 8 points, while Napoli takes the lead with 9 points after a decisive victory over Cagliari.

All the action unfolded in the second half. Mota Carvalho opened the scoring for Monza with a powerful header. Just minutes later, in the 88th minute, Denzel Dumfries found the net to level the score just two minutes before the final whistle. Looking ahead, Monza will host Bologna in their next match, while Inter prepares for a showdown against Milan.

In the 81st minute, Monza seized the advantage as Dany Mota scored with a powerful header into the top left corner, thanks to an assist from Armando Izzo. This goal caught the reigning champions of Italy off guard.

Inter leveled the score in the 88th minute when Denzel Dumfries found the back of the net with a close-range right-footed shot aimed at the center.

Stats before the game

After a draw and a win in Serie A against Inter, Monza have been defeated in their next two matches in the competition against the Nerazzurri.
Inter are unbeaten (1W, 1D) in Serie A at the U-Power Stadium against Monza; in the two matches between the two teams at this stadium, a total of 10 goals have been scored (an average of five per game) and neither team has managed to keep a clean sheet.
Monza have lost six of their last seven Serie A games against opponents from the same region: the only exception being one win against Milan, at home on 18 February; in this period, the Brianza team have conceded 22 goals, for an average of 3.1 per game.
After a series of seven consecutive away wins, Inter have not won in three of their last four league away games, drawing the two most recent ones (1D); the last time the Nerazzurri recorded more draws in a row away from home in Serie A was between January and March 2022 (four).
Monza is the team that has been waiting for a win for the longest rounds of the championship among the teams currently in Serie A: 12, a partial in which they have obtained five draws and seven defeats; furthermore, the Brianza team have failed to find the net in six of these games.
After a draw and two wins in the first three matches of this championship, Inter can obtain at least three wins in the first four games of a Serie A tournament for the fourth season in a row, something that could happen for the first time since 1955/56 (six consecutive on that occasion).

Among the players with more than two goals in Serie A in 2024, Daniel Maldini is the one with the best minutes/goal average: one goal for every 107 minutes on average (five goals in the period for the 2001-born player).
Marcus Thuram has scored four goals in his first three games of this season, one less than Lautaro Martínez after the same number of games in the last tournament: with a goal from the Frenchman, Inter could have a player with five goals in the first four matchdays for two consecutive Serie A seasons for the first time since 1959/60-1960/61 (on that occasion Edwing Firmani in both tournaments and Antonio Angelillo in 1960/61). Four of Monza’s last five goals in Serie A have been scored by Milan Djuric; however, the Bosnian striker has not scored in the 448 minutes played against Inter in the competition: only against Roma has he played more minutes (496) without managing to score in the Italian top flight.
