👉 Inter crushed Lecce in the Serie A Week 22 on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy.  Inter made a strong statement, signaling that they are still very much in the race for the Scudetto. Following Napoli’s victory over Juventus, Inter responded by narrowing the gap to just -3 points, now sitting at 50 points compared to Napoli’s 53. With a game in hand against Fiorentina, Inzaghi’s squad celebrated their third consecutive win across Serie A and the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Lecce faced their second straight defeat in the league, conceding four goals in both matches. They remain at 20 points, just one point above third-from-last Verona, who could potentially surpass them with a win against Venezia tomorrow. Inter’s victory was straightforward, with the team netting two goals in each half. They took an early lead just six minutes in, thanks to Frattesi, who received a perfect assist from Thuram. Although Thuram later missed a clear chance, Inter continued to press.

Inter had two goals disallowed for offside before Lautaro Martinez scored a stunning left-footed goal in the 39th minute. Dumfries added a third in the 57th minute, assisted by Martinez’s clever back-heel. Just three minutes later, after Frattesi was fouled in the box, Taremi, who had just come on, converted the penalty to seal a 4-0 victory.

Inter grabbed the advantage in the 6th minute when Davide Frattesi found the back of the net with a close-range right-footed shot. Marcus Thuram provided the assist. Guilbert made a critical mistake, inadvertently setting up Thuram. The French player made his way into the box, targeted Baschirotto, and then laid it off for Frattesi, who easily slotted it home to extend the Nerazzurri’s lead.

The celebration for the Nerazzurri goes on! In the 39th minute, Lautaro Martínez, the Argentine striker, found the back of the net with a stunning left-footed shot into the top right corner. Piotr Zielinski set him up perfectly after stealing the ball from Pierret. Zielinski then passed it to Lautaro, who skillfully shifted the ball to his left foot and unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box, placing it just under the top corner.

It’s truly a pleasure to see Lautaro Martínez in action. He always shines on the field and plays a crucial role in guiding the team.

It’s complete chaos for Lecce! Inter scores again in the 57th minute, extending their lead to 3-0. Denzel Dumfries delivers a stunning left-footed shot into the top left corner. Lautaro Martínez provides a brilliant backheel assist, allowing Dumfries to maneuver into the box, fend off Baschirotto, and finish with the inside of his left foot past Falcone.

What a match! Goals are pouring in at the Via del Mare! In the 61st minute, Mehdi Taremi stepped up and scored a penalty with a precise right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The penalty was awarded after Wladimiro Falcone fouled Davide Frattesi in the box. Lecce 0 – 4 Inter.

Recently, Inter has been on a roll, winning their last five league games against Lecce, netting at least two goals in each match (12 goals total, averaging 2.4 per game) and maintaining a clean sheet in the last four. On the other hand, Lecce has struggled at home against Inter, winning just once in their last eight Serie A matches at the Via del Mare (3 draws, 4 losses), with their only victory being a 1-0 win on January 29, 2012, thanks to Guillermo Giacomazzi’s goal under coach Serse Cosmi.

Lecce has managed to stay unbeaten in five out of their last six home matches in Serie A, with a record of 2 wins and 3 draws. Their only home loss during this stretch was against Lazio on December 21, where they fell 1-2.

On the other hand, Inter has been on a roll, winning their last seven away games in the league. They have only achieved a longer streak of consecutive away victories once in their Serie A history, which was 11 wins from October 2006 to March 2007 under Roberto Mancini.

Additionally, Inter has impressively kept a clean sheet in their last six away matches, with only Milan having a longer streak of eight consecutive away clean sheets back in the early ’90s. Lastly, Simone Inzaghi is on the verge of becoming the coach with the fewest matches needed to reach 200 wins in Serie A, currently sitting at 199 victories in 331 games.
