👉 Inter continues to chase the Scudetto after a solid victory over Parma in the Serie A Week 15 match held at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. The final score was 3-1, with goals from Federico Dimarco, Nicolo’ Barella, and Marcus Thuram. Although Pecchia’s team left San Siro with pride, the Crociati fought hard, managing to score in the closing minutes and holding their ground for 40 minutes. However, once Dimarco netted his stunning goal, Inter took control and showcased their scoring prowess. With this win, Inzaghi’s squad climbs higher in the league standings.

Surely, this is a very special victory. It’s been a long time since Inter last triumphed at home against Parma in Serie A.  Inter last victory dates back to April 21, 2013. Since then, they’ve experienced four draws and one loss, marking the longest ongoing streak of home games without a win against a single opponent in the league for the Lombardy team.

In their next Serie A match, Inter will take on Lazio, while Parma is set to face Verona.

Inter took the lead in the 40th minute when Federico Dimarco found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. Henrikh Mkhitaryan provided the assist. The play featured a clever one-two between Mkhitaryan and Dimarco, who executed a beautiful backheel control before switching to his right foot and curling the ball past the helpless Suzuki.

Inter extended their lead in the 53rd minute when Nicolò Barella found the back of the net with a precise right-footed shot. The goal was set up by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who delivered a brilliant through ball. (The goal was validated after a VAR review). Mkhitaryan’s exceptional pass allowed Barella to make a well-timed run, showcasing his excellent control and dribbling skills that left Delprato behind. With Suzuki in front of him, the Inter midfielder finished flawlessly.

It’s complete chaos for Parma! In the 66th minute, Inter scored their third goal! Marcus Thuram netted it with a close-range right-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner. Yann Bisseck provided the headed assist after a corner that Enrico Delprato conceded.

In the 81st minute, an own goal by Matteo Darmian occurs. Parma showcases a great attack, putting Man in a one-on-one with Sommer. Darmian reaches the ball first but accidentally sends it into his own net.

Stats before the game

Inter secured a victory in their most recent Serie A match against Parma on March 4, 2021, with Antonio Conte leading from the sidelines. Since the stretch from November 2006 to September 2009, when they managed five consecutive wins, Inter has struggled to claim at least two back-to-back victories against the Emilians in the league.

Inter has managed to keep a clean sheet in four out of their last six league matches, a notable improvement compared to their previous four Serie A games where they failed to do so. Since the weekend of October 19-20, only Napoli, with five clean sheets, has surpassed Inter’s four in this regard.

Additionally, Inter has scored in their last 29 home league matches and is on the verge of achieving a remarkable 30 consecutive home games with goals, a feat they last accomplished between July 2020 and February 2022, when they scored in 32 straight matches.

Parma, on the other hand, has seen some success recently, winning two of their last three league games (with one loss), after struggling to secure just one victory in their previous 11 Serie A matches this season (with six draws and four losses). The Gialloblu have not managed to win two consecutive Serie A games since July 2020, when they triumphed over Napoli and Brescia under coach Roberto D’Aversa.

In their last away match, Parma secured a 2-1 victory against Venezia, breaking a long streak of 19 away games without a win in Serie A (with nine draws and ten losses). They haven’t achieved back-to-back away wins in the league since July-August 2020, when they won against Brescia and Lecce.

Interestingly, while Parma has conceded the fewest goals in the first 30 minutes of play this season (only two), Inter has let in 43% of their goals in the final 15 minutes of matches (six out of 14), which is the highest percentage in the league, tied with Empoli.

Player Stats

Marcus Thuram can become the third player in the history of Serie A to reach double figures for goals in a single season by scoring only multiple goals, after Norberto Höfling in 1949/50 and Harald Nielsen in 1962/63.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored three goals against Parma in Serie A, against no team has he done better in the tournament (three goals also against Genoa and Inter); in particular, in both of his matches against the Gialloblù he has participated in two goals (a brace in November 2020 and a goal plus an assist in July 2020).

Before Enrico Delprato, the last Italian defender for Parma who had scored at least three goals in a single Serie A season was Paolo De Ceglie in 2014/15 (also three); the last to reach four was Alessandro Lucarelli in 2013/14.
